After a 37-year career as a financial manager with the U.S. Navy, Diana Griffin discovered her true passion in glass artistry. For the past nine years, she has been the founder and artisan behind Queenie Glass and Sass, where she creates original works of art and shares her love of glass with students of all ages.
Teaching and community outreach are central to Diana’s work. She has taught at the San Diego Craft Collective, San Diego Oasis (Rancho Bernardo and Grossmont Center), and offers private instruction at her studio in El Cajon. She also volunteers at the Good Samaritan Retirement Home, leading residents in simple projects that spark creativity and joy.
As an experimental kiln-fused glass artist, Diana is drawn to the endless possibilities of the medium. She often incorporates wood, metal, shells, and coral into her mixed-media pieces, and enjoys upcycling found or discarded items into new works of art, exploring how glass can express both delicacy and strength. For her, the unpredictability of kiln firing—the surprise of opening the kiln—is one of the most inspiring aspects of the process.
Diana is an active member of the Art Glass Guild and serves as Treasurer of the Art Glass Association of Southern California. She is dedicated to fostering inclusivity, welcoming new members from her classes, and ensuring all voices are heard as the organization moves forward.
She believes glass art should be accessible to everyone, from a small pocket heart or functional dish to a one-of-a-kind statement piece. Through her work, Diana hopes to inspire curiosity, creativity, and new ways of seeing the world.
